| Prerequisites: | Participants will need to meet the age requirements as stated in relevant Government regulations or industrial awards, and will need to demonstrate the physical and psychological capacity to manipulate a pole saw. |

| Outcomes: | On completion of this unit, participants are able to trim high branches, reachable with a mechanical pole saw to trim excess branches, promoting desirable future tree growth (formative pruning). Knowledge of, and compliance with applicable pruning standards will be demonstrated, both by a written test and the practical component. They will also be able to carry out basic equipment maintenance including chain sharpening. |
| Notes: | All training aids including pole saws and safety equipment will be provided for use as required. Suitable trees for trimming are required for the practical component of the course. Participants are required to wear/bring their own steel capped boots. |
