Firearms Safety

This course provides participants with relevant and comprehensive training for anyone who wishes to possess a firearm lawfully. Most of this training is in the class room learning about legislative provisions in Queensland concerning firearms and their use; social responsibilities associated with the use of firearms; and general firearms safety procedures.

There is a written exam related to each particular category of firearm covering your knowledge and understanding of firearms terminology, basic firearm functions, firearms safety issues and procedures and the responsible use of each category of firearm. This is followed by a practical assessment specific to each category of firearm assessing the traineeÕs performance in both live and dry fire situations.

Commercial Operators License (ACDC License)

This course provides participants with relevant skills and knowledge to operate ground equipment to carry out ground distribution of herbicides on land that the person or his or her relative does not own or occupy. A person wishing to spray weeds in Queensland must obtain a "commercial operators licence" .

To obtain this licence you must hold an "approved accreditation" certifying competence of the following national units of competence:

RTC 3704A - Prepare and apply chemicals
RTC 3401A - Control weeds
RTC 3705A - Transport, handle and store chemicals

A person who holds the "approved accreditation" then may make application for the licence to DPI&F - Contact us for more information
